I have been thinking about doing another planted tank after I tore down my red cherry shrimp tank about two year ago. Well, after winning a large sum of cash from the casino I decided to spoil myself to a new planted tank :grinno:. So far I ordered 12 clumps of java fern online and should be coming in next week. I will be tying the java fern to my manzanita drift wood. I will also be getting my plants for free from my uncle because he has a planted tank and he sells plants on aquabid. Which is a plus!

Here is some info on the tank:
-Tank size: 30 gallon rimless (19"x19"x19")
-Substrate: ADA Amazonia substrate
-Co2: 20 ounce paintball bottle (currently not running Co2 because there are no plants, besides java moss)
-Filtration: Marineland Emperor 280 (temporary). Will be getting a canister filter with built in UV sterilizer.
-Lighting: 18" Odyssea T5 MH. Will be ordering a Kessil Amazon sun LED light soon.

Here is a picture I took of the things I bought.

- ADA Amazonia Substrate large bag: $37.99
- ADA Amazonia Substrate small bag: $16.99
- Manzanita Driftwood: $49.99!!!!

I honestly felt really dumb for dropping $50 on a piece of driftwood, but after putting it in my tank I could appreciate it more. The driftwood has been sitting in the tank for about four days now and is almost waterlogged. There is white mold growing on my driftwood which looks pretty nasty. I googled it and many people said it is harmless and will go away on it own. I also read on another post that pleco's love to eat it. I currently have my java moss in a small critter keeper to keep it from being sucked up into the filter. When I have time I will tie them onto my driftwood using black thread.

Nice piece of wood, should look great twisting and turning throuth the plants.

So I haven't gotten to tying the java moss onto the manzanita driftwood yet. Was really busy today. Will be doing it first thing tomorrow when I wake up. Here are some pictures of the tank. The tank is fully cycled and I currently have my baby fahaka puffer in there temporary. Here are some pictures of the tank so far. Sorry for the water marks on the glass.

Nothing beats the getting ready to setup a planted tank...

So I guess I'm not waiting till tomorrow to tie the java moss onto my driftwood. I had some extra time so I did it quickly. Looks funky at the moment, but when it grows out naturally it will look better!

I also just got an email saying that my java fern has been shipped! I should receive them within 2 days.
