Alright so I got a new common pleco he seems ok he is small,
thing is I can't tell if he is getting any food or not I've not seen him
jump on the algae discs and I don't have much if any algae on the tank walls none that I can see..

Is there anyway to tell if it is infact getting any food and if not how
would I get it to eat? I drop in a disc and it sits there forever it seems
then finally the turtle gets hold of it... :|

It spends most of its day attached to the walls of the tank and
as I said there is no visible algae on it so is it getting something I am not
seeing?

Thanks for reading.

Hmm also do we know how they find their food?
I am mostly trying to make sure he is eating hehe
because it sure doesn't look like it
but of course I could be wrong.

Cause I am wanting to give him other stuff aswell
but if he is not in fact eating not going to do much. :(

Thanks for the link btw was a good read!

Oh also I have seen many people holding their pleco's
and hand feeding them what would be the quickest
or best way for them to get accustomed to you?
and of course the feeding would be done in the water. :goldfish:

Drop a weighted chunk of vege in the tank overnight (zuchini, cucumber, mushroom, green beans etc)

They will fossick around the tank at night, find it, and eat their fill.

Take out the leftovers in the monring.

As they get bigger they get bolder and eat in the daylight, and maybe even from your hand.

Hmm I will have to try that he seems a bit sickly though I think that place
I got him from was not a very good one..

And I am not sure what to do to make him feel better all other pleco's
I have seen always have their fin up and such all I see him doing
is lay around fin is down more than half the time doesn't look like he is doing anything at all
occasionally attaches to a wall and sits there forever..

I have a feeling he isn't going to make it and I cannot find any info
on what it may be or what would help at all.. =/

This is all in dark or light by the way..

Ok so I believe he is looking better but the tank I
am wanting to put him in started getting algae bloom ...

Would amano shrimp eat the free floating algae that causes
the greenish water or what would you recommend?
