So far i just finished working on my last tank a 60g African tank, I have a twenty long and didnt know what to do with it so i then thought of making a nano saltwater tank. My plans are simple nothing less than live rock couple of coral 2 percula clownfish 1 green mandarin goby and a cleaner shrimp...any tips or advice i might need to start this project.

You might get more responses in the General Salt forum - this section is mainly for posting pictures...

If this is your first saltwater tank you really want to go as big as possible. A 20g is doable but you'll have to be very dilligent to top off your tank and check your parameters frequently. I would abandon the green mandarin goby idea though. They aren't gobies at all, and unless you manage to find one of the ORA captive bred mandarins they can be very difficult to keep fed. They are best kept by experienced marine aquarists with large tanks and plenty of Live rock & sand with established copepod colonies.

I've recently started my first saltwater tank, and there's a lot to learn on this side of the hobby. Keep researching and take it slow

As recommended I would repost in general salt. I am one of the more active salt members, and almost NEVER come into this area.

That being said, a 20g L is a decent salt tank, but larger is usually recommended for novices. I think that you can do it anyways, as long as you do your homework, and have some friendly MFK people to help you.

Your stocking list also looks good to me.

Some advice? READ! Books are better than the internet. Fact. Best source of info on the internet in my mind is wetwebmedia. Do a google search for them. Forums are good, but WWM has a huge source of troubleshooting essentially on almost everything in the hobby.

Filtration is big, with a tank this size sumping might seem "awkward", but its the recommended form of filtration for SW tanks.

I also recommend the use of protein skimmers, especially AquaC brand.

Really if you want more help, just post more specific questions! :D

Even if you get an ORA one you still are not going to want it to go in a nano tank, they need at least , according to live aquaria who under sizes everything, 30g tank. but even in there 1 is enough to demolish your pod population as they tend to always be foraging for pods.
