So I exchanged my Marulius for Pulchras. After listening to the advice of a really experienced member, I decided that Marulius for not for me. They were 10"+ when I took them out. The new pulchras are around 6". There are six of them. My tank measures 5 feet x 2 feet x 2 feet. There are 3 big pieces of driftwood in my tank. It's hard to see it because of the black background. I also have water lettuce. It's growing, but hasn't covered the top yet. I'm working on that.

Good job mate.
Just remember Pulchra are sub-tropical, so keep the temps real low!

One of my favorite Channa!
Here is one of my old ones:

What happened to it?

HI fish-sauce,

you should add some really big pieces of wood ! The tank as it is now is not really a snakehead tank. The fish can see oponents through the whole tank.
Another advice is to add floating pieces or tubes of cork bark if available. Fish that are chased by the others can hide in them and still breath air without beeing seen.

C. pulchra tends to get overfed. They come from small streams in high altitude where food is rar, so they take everything they can get, but its not really healthy for them (same as C. aurantimaculata).

My pair started breeding after theyve been set on a diet were they really do not get much food. But they arent slim, show full colour and have bred three times.

Yours show nice colours, nice orange markings. They will get bigger when they grow.
Have fun with them.

Cheers Brucki

PS: mine live at 21°C atm, was colder in wintertime

Where can I find cork bark? They do look really neat, but I can't find any. I have one pulchra that hogs food. That is the fat one you see in the pic. He tends to hog food before the others have a chance to eat. I will probably just feed them much less now altogether.
