Hey guys,

I am still setting my 55gallon up...and since im going to keep my FH and a GT in there for a year (babies), I think ill need good water circulation.

Do you guys think this pump is to much for those fish? or its fine?

How can i reduce the flow if it's to much?

BUMP... some help please :/

Whats output max on the pump ? i am using a 1300 gph pump on my 55 gallon tank and i got about 3 feet of head loss so probably close to 800-900 gph on the pump and another 400-500 gph on my hobs, for my oscar and pleco you should be fine with the pump. And as far as lessening flow maybe do a sump setup or something that way you'll get some restriction as far as from head loss getting it back up to the tank, others might know more about other ways though.

Isn't that just a power head? How do you filter the water?

Its 528 gallons per hour (gph)... 2000 litres per hour... and yes the water pump is to CIRCULATE the water more, and my filter came with the 55gallon aquarium PLUS im using another one that came with my 20 gallon for more support.

I think it should be fine but then again others might think otherwise i have a directional return spout to widen out the water getting pumped back in the tank that way its not as powerful stream of water. or even getting a T fitting that way the flow hits both sides of the tank that would be the best way i could think of making it less harsh

Yeah it really depends on if your fish like flow or not... I had a 1400gph power head in my 90 gallon with my clown loaches and they loved it. I've seen some SA cichlids that didn't like a lot of flow though, seemed really stressed by it.

and yes its a power head sorry, and im not sure how flowerhorn or a Green terror would react to it...

btw could you give me a link on the T shape addon to distribute the output flow more smoothly?
