My new Rat Snake (pics)

I finally got a snake yesterday, North American Rat Snake. It's about 16'' long and I'll be hiding it from my dad lol

Anyone else keep these guys? He's really active and is very content with me holding him, not skittish at all...

I also can't find any decent info on these guys lol

That's what I was thinking initially, I got him from Petco and there were two lables on the tank, King snake or Rat snake. Pretty sure it was a new arrival because when I saw him he was flickering his tounge and roaming around the cage.
 
Corn snake are rat snakes. They used to be called Red Rat snakes, that's technicaly what they are, but Corn stuck with people.

I found that article too, that's how I came to the Rat Snake conclusion

Corn snakes and Rat snakes are the same?! I didn't know that...

I just went to Petco and bought a few frozen pinkies... He destroyed 2 like it was nothing!!

Happy he's eating after day two
 
its just the babys coloration it is indeed a rat snake, nice pickup

That's my conclusion too, hope he says that gray though because I was reading that the can gain/lose colors as they get older and then that's when I can get a positive ID

I fed him two pinkies last night, how long should I wait before I handle him again? Is two days (48 hrs) enough?
