So I picked up a red belly yesterday from a dude on craigslist. I currently have him alone... In a 40g breeder.. I know way too small and he needs others. But I got him because he was in a 10g tank and he's 9 inches long so I'm planning on getting a large tank and somehow getting more even though they are technically illegal. I just couldn't let it stay in the 10g and even though my home isn't currently ideal, it's much better. I'm also trying to get a permit so I can legally own them here in Colorado. Poor guy knocked a bunch of his front teeth out hitting the glass in the 10g so hopefully they come back soon!!

The teeth will grow back in no time and depends on how active he is the 40B might be fine as long as you can keep water parameters in check.
I know you are trying to do the right thing but until you are able to secure a permit I need to have the topic locked as we do not promote illegal fish keeping.
