Was looking specifically to find a male midas or even a midevil found this guy at LFS labeled as Red devil he is currently about 5 inches. Vented 100% male. The LFS I frequent is a pretty good place and they seem to know their stuff especially when it comes to CA/SA. However I know there is a big grey area within the amphilophus group. Just trying to get some opinions does this guy look more Red Devil, more Midas or more Midevil? Im thinking he leans more RD

Cool was actually hoping to end up with a nice bulky midas

His body looked more slender to me is why I was leaning RD but honestly I have probably never seen a pure specimen of either type in person so who knows

Pure bred Red Devils are very hard to find due to extensive hybridization you can only truly know you have a pure red devil if you know the source(breeder) and he/she has or if it's wild caught or it's genetically tested.

midevil, they get big and bulky too so don't worry. my male was the meanest SOB A fish could ever be I swear. He beat up a pleco nearly twice his size, they really do shine in a spacious tank on their own. cheers.
