Hopefully he makes it =/
someone came into the store today with a baby dove... they didn't want to keep it but wanted to know what to do with it... well i have raised babies from the egg before and hand reared a lot of birds so i decided to take it home..but not sure on the shape of this little one.... they said it had ants on it when they found it so i'm worried it might just die from the ant bites =/ been breathing heavily since i got it and it's not to interested in food... but it does have a full crop and been pooping all over the place.... other than the heavy breathing it appears in good health... i'd guess about a week from fledging, has pin feathers all over. It's eyes are open which is good cause that is a big mile stone and things tend to get easier after that... but it's also bad because it knows i'm not mom and it's probably terrified of me.
So since it's crop is full I'm just keeping it warm over night and hopefully it will still be around in the morning.... hoping that the heavy breathing is just shock from the day and after it rests for the night it will be better..... but i know the chances of it pulling through are slim... who knows what else it went through or how long it was out....
so here it is, if anyone has anything to add I would appreciate it.
