my new shovelnose cat keeps floating at the top of the tank and some times he just goes vertical and lets the powerheads push him around is this normal for a shovel nose cat when its first introduced, and just to add its not my water quality everything is perfect.

Doesn't sound normal to me, what type and is it eating good?

its a lima shovel nose and it hasnt eaten yet its only been in the tank for about 4 hours and i havnt tried feeding it yet.

Not to sure, sounds bad though, most limas stay on the bottom or in a vertical position, in plants or on the side of the tank or something. But it doesn't sound good he is just floating around.

Was it like this in the store?

how do his gills look. sounds like what mine did when he got an infection of his gills!

Shovelnoses often take a acclimation time and longer to feed. That floating things weird though, as above check the gills.
