Ok, not brand new, but we've only had him for around a month and this is the first decent pic I've got, lol. Pic is pretty much real size, around 4 3/4-5 inches. In a 55g right now but going into our 125g when he grows a little more. What do you guys think? I think he looks pretty good but the pic doesn't really do him justice.

Right now he's eating krill and freeze dried bloodworms mostly, he won't take pellets unfortunately, but he does eat well and he's growing nicely.

Wish us luck, this is our first one and I'm kind of paranoid that something bad might happen even though he's in a tank by himself with a tight lid and good water quality and everything. We've been doing small frequent water changes rather than bigger ones to limit stress, but he's still settling in and sometimes sits on the bottom, or swims near the bottom, and startles easily. We do try to approach the tank very slowly but he seems to startle at random sometimes. About how long does it take them to settle in, or are they just kind of jumpy when young? I've heard some individuals just always startle really easy, but I'm hoping he'll at least get a bit calmer.

Any comments or suggestions are welcome :)

Looking good. As long as he's feeding your ahead of the game. Keep trying the pellets he'll probably come around. GL.

very nice.

Thanks guys.

I will definately keep trying the pellets, or get some different kinds and see what happens. I haven't tried the actual arow pellets yet because my LFS is out of stock in them, but I was trying hikari cichlid pellets.

He usually keeps them in his mouth for awhile then spits them out. I guess that's better than completely ignoring them.

Looks Good. Congrads

Arowanas can be skittish at any age. Just thier temperant. (Spelling).

Maybe if you add some slow dither fish, it may entice him to be more open?

i reckon pellets keep arowanas the most serene. i guess cause they slowly lose their killer instinct. try it :) beef ure boy up then show us updated pics. good luck!
