Hey MFK,
This is my new 'super red dragon' from Thailand. I have kept cichlids in the past and after a couple of months I finally gave into temptation and got myself a flower horn. Regardless of what his future potential is like I love the fish and personality. He is super friendly and active within a week of being shipped in. Let me know what you guys think! I currently have him on some Hikari Bio-Gold and Grand Sumo, going to continue to try out different types of frozen/live foods and see what works? Do you guys ever feed dried grasshoppers/mealworms etc? Thanks!

Travis.

Beautiful flowerhorn dude. How much did this guy cost if you dont mind me asking?

Thats awesome man, im totally jealous. And to answer your question about meal worms i would recommend avoiding them. I have reptiles that i regularly feed meal worms and ive dropped a few in my fish tanks for fun and have noticed shell remains in the fish poop. I believe chitin is tough for fish to digest. So ive avoided feeding them to my cichlids.

I'm glad you think he's good looking, I'm sure one day you'll own one someday! Thank you though, that's good to know.

Just don't give flowerhorn live food. There is too much disease in live feeding. Flowerhrom are prone to sickness easily. Once it get sick, it will keep on getting sick. Keep his digestive tract clean and healthy by feeding pellets.
