Bought a new tank!. Its a 400 gallon acrylic tank. Measures 84''x33''x33''. Exact capacity is 396, but we'll call it a 400; it sounds better.
.
It was a salty tank before and I'm guessing he had a closed loop system. So the holes that were drilled in the bottom are now my Water-Change-Drains. I've got them tied into a "T" with a female garden hose adapter for draining and filling back up.
For filtration, I'm going to use two 55g DIY wet/drys. Powered by two Mag 18's. That will give me about a 7.5 turnover rate. Scrubbies will be used as the bio-media. I've got one made so far. The other will be made soon, but I've got some musical-aquariums to play first.
I'll probably do some sort of pre-filter in the overflow box since its enormous.
I still have to think out how I want to do it without restricting flow too much.
There were also a bunch of holes drilled in the front of the overflow box, so I bought some plexi-glass from Home Depot, painted them, flipped them over and siliconed them to the overflow box. Then siliconed the edges to make it water tight.
The whole thing is going to be lit up by the 8' light strip I acquired a while back.
