I just set up my tank a few days ago and it already stinks. Its a 10 gallon tank with plastic plants, 1 ball thats supposed to turn into a live plant, a small house, small and large gravel/rocks, air supply and the Aqua Tech Power Filter 5/15. I recently had put an African Dwarf Frog in there and fed it blood worms, it's in its own tank now, but could the blood worms have caused it to smell bad? The frogs tank has a smell but not as strong as my fish tank, I have a cover on the fish tank and can smell it when i walk in the room. I can't smell the frog tank unless I put my head practically in the tank, it is uncovered and has no filter. Any suggestions? I love my new fish but don't want the smell. I bought 1 ghost shrimp, 2 hi-fin black tetras, 1 guppie, 1 small plecosomus, 2 mollies, 1 small crab, 1 african dwarf frog (now in a seperate tank) and 2 platies.

You should have let it cycle. It is kind of late for that now. You will probably have to do 25-50% changes everyday until it cycles. This is going to increase the maturation time of your filter though.

If possible go to an LFS (Local Fish Store) and see if they can spare some used bio media. This will speed things up a bit.

those are some monster fish you got there

sorry, i had to. i've been having problems w/ my 55 stinking, too. put some carbon in the filter if there isn't any.

Sounds like you have some deteriorating food issues. Clean the gravel. Your tank should not smell.

I would also say that it's still cycling. Once there is enough bacteria in your filter to covert the ammonia to nitrate, it'll smell a lot less (if it smells at all). I also would go to a friend or LFS and get a bag of filter "sludge". They might look at you strange but if you pour it in your filter it will speed your cycle up a LOT. Don't worry if it makes the tank look messy for a while, it'll clear up.
