Oh man I been wanting one of these for so long, I really dont know what the scientific name is but its so cute right now and the best thing is that we got it for free.

I have checked with some people about the age to see if its growth is right, but it seems that I have a runt on my hands. The age is about a year old or so.

I will post some pics for ya later, you are gonna love the color of this tortise shell :naughty: :naughty: :naughty:

Cool, so what species is it?

That's the thing I don't know. It was a free rehome of a living creature that was not being taken care of in any way decent, so I just had to add it to my zoo, though I have been informed that it is a girl and my kids called her kit kat

will post pics after work today

Some tortoises need very special care espescially when small. Just like fish they need proper temp and lighting and, diet is a very big deal. Some species can be vulnerable to parasites when small and need to be tank raised i.e. clean enviroment. Like if its a Sulcata or Star tortoise. If its Russian its bullet proof and very easy to care for. I have a couple rooskies. Pics please!

i had a horsfield tortoise, get building the tortoise table! Worst thing you can do is put it in a viva.

I will make sure to post a pic later say about 6pm, but I tell you this tortise is fantastic, it even comes to my daughter mahalia when she calls it very smart

Yep, glass tanks are about the worst thing you can keep a tortoise in.

i cannot wait to see it....hurry... and everyone {all the experts} will help you...

sweet I will take all the help I can get,

there is one thing that I forgot to mention about this tortise and here is the picture which will tell it all clear

DSC08284.jpg

its actually a tortise shell stray cat that my daughter mahalia called out to in the back alley and it came to her and sort of adopted her. Apparently the neighbours tell us this little cat was dumpster diving all winter long and we had the coldest winter days on record here for over the past 100 years, I personally am shocked that this little cat is in such great shape. Though I think she is stunted.

they came excitedly to show me. I held her for a bit and she was a sweetie. Well I was at work a few days later and I find out at the end of the day that my family has been feeding this cat for a bit and it has been living in our shed in our back yard. My wife also tells me that they have allowed it into our house, to which I told her, you know that that cat is now basically part of our family since they have been feeding it and it has been inside our house. Yet, at this point we still had not officially adopted this stray. I got home from work late got ready to go to the museum to do some cleaning up and as I was driving i hear what sound like a squeaking coming from the back of my van and I am like whats up with that and kit kat pops up from the very back of the van an bounds to my lap and settles in while im driving. At this point basically I have decided well now we own a cat, because its a miserable wet cold almost 0 degree night out and I just can't put this cat outside.

When I got home, it turns out that my family thought I was not to pleased to have this little cat in our house and my wife decided to force the cat out. To which my son hebron snuck it into the van so it would have a dry place to sleep for the night.

The pic was taken as both the cat an I were sitting on the living room couch. So there you have my new tortise lololol. I thought it would make a funny laugh to get yall to think I actually had a living tortise.

Yet, this thread is also my way of starting a thread to garner thoughts on what is needed before I actually get one hope ya arn't to put off by the tom foolery
