just got a 15 cm tyre track eel
tried to feed it on pellets for 4 days, but never ate it, and im too weak so gave it shrimp, took it straith away as if starving, probably was.
eating twice a day, and its body and belly is very fat and protruding.

now, can you over feed them
tempirarily, its in a 200 litre tank to grow out.

any tips on making it big quick? i wnat it 2 foot long and size of my fore arm:D lo like some of the ones i seen here.

i do 40% to 50% water change 3 times a week (monday, wed and friday)

Try feeding it meaty foods like bloodworm, tubifex worms. Don't feed it pellets coz won't care about it. If you wan't to feed it shrimp, give it to him at night.

Why on earth would you change the water so often?

I have just bought myself 2 baby tyre tracks of about 10cm, but I'm also keen for them to grow quickly.
Currently I'm feeding them on bloodworms, every second day.
Is that enough?

I've also got two small oscars as tankmates, but they are greedy buggers and get to most of the worms before they sink.

TT's will eat small fish, so frozen silver sides cut to size. beefheart is a big pound putter oner. warmer temps, great water quality, large tank. can all increase fish size in a hurry. earthworms, bloodworms, freshwater carnivour diets. just watch fat/protein intake as a high fat/protein diet in fish can lead to shortened lifespans. i think more high fat then protein.. but there is a very good thread about this on the forums. I don't remeber where i read it but i believe it's under the general forum. these aren't true eels. they are fish.. but given a highquality diet, lots of room to grow, excelent water conditions. They will grow at a solid rate. I feed my fire eel every day 1 cube of frozen bloodworms, or beefheart, or mysis shrimp. whatever he doens't eat the minnows for my needle nose eat. and he gets live earthworms 2x a week however many he can until he's full. then 1 day off of feeding. in 2 monthes he's grown almost 4" i'de say possibly more. and we went threw a bumpy patch there for awhile. he neither looks fat or skinny. TT's seem to be abit more aggresive eaters in my experiance. make sure to feed FW fish FW food.

i have a 15in TT.. got him 1 year ago and it was 4in.. so it put on 11in in a year.. for the first couple months i had it, it ate about 1-2 cubes of bloodworms per day.. after about 5 months it was up to 10in and eating anywhere from 5 to 8 cubes of bloodworms a day.. after that the growth rate slowed down pretty dramatically, its 15in now and eating about 8 cubes of bloodworms, every 3 days

if you really want to get your TT big quickly, then make sure you feed it as much as it can eat every single day.. once it gets over 10in the growth rate will slow down.. TT's are very picky eaters, never in your life will you get one to accept pellets.. mine will only eat bloodworms, for a few months he was goin crazy for rosey red minnows, eating about 6 a day.. if your TT will accept shrimp continue feeding him that, also try earthworms, and frozen bloodworms. its gunna take a while for that thing to get up to 2ft long, probably like 2 years..

also cut down your water changes, 40-50% 3 times a week is way overkill.. like literally your water it going to be sterile with those kind of water changes, and then no benegicial bacteria and then your water starts getting crazy acidic and ammonia levels soar.. cut it down to like 20% once a weak.. anything more than that is a bit much.. good luck brah
