Just picked up a trio of H. Psittacus from Ira at yesterdays NJAS swap meet, and I'm very excited to have them. They have settled in very well, and are already eating pellets and flakes. I never realized how big these guys mouths are. Anyways, here they are....
Their mouth appears larger because of the line on the side of their mouth. They used to be called the "false mouth cichlid". I had 5 of them about 17 years ago bred by John O'Malley, one of the first breeders of them in the US.
