Well, I got these from Jeff Rapps recently. A male and female F1 pair of Andinoacara Stalsbergi. Im really excited about these 2 as they arent very common anymore. Here is some photos of them currently as they settle in. Still a little skittish and like to hide if you walk in on them. But Starting to develop and grow. The male is already getting Nice silver/white on his tail and dorsal. Green/blue colors starting on their faces and starting to see scale color come in as well. I had to move some fish around that were twice their size and temporarily were in a tank with the pair. The "True" green terror attitude and name really came out pretty instantly with them. In less then 15 minutes they had 4 other fish (Vieja species) much bigger then they cornered and hiding. LOL.. Their colors during this really came out. The female is a bit more timid. But they seem very attached to each other. Currently they are in a lower light planted tank by themselves. Everntually I will house the pair in my 90 gallon.

Sorry for the crummy quality. Havent gotten arround to getting my Camera out yet. So just some phone pics. Plus being so skittish for now they hide and its hard to get pics.

Here is the male

Here is the little female.

Those are beautiful A. Stalsbergi! ;) You will love them, they are very entertaining; especially when they become bigger and begin spawning! How big are they? My two females were two inches, and the me was two and a half inches when I purchased mine from Jeff Rapps about a year ago. They do have the attitude! Little skittish though but I think this is because they are F1s.

Thank you. They are quite awesome. I waited for some time to get them. Rapps is one of the few who offer these from time to time and few between. I already love them. I sit in front of their tank waiting holding still. Then they come out and do their thing. Its awesome to watch them. I'm excited for them to get bigger. But I also know they grow a little slower. Right now they are about 2.5 inches. Serious attitudes. If anyone ever wonders where they get the name Green Terror. Then they need to see the difference between this species vs saums. I've got a gold saum in a community set up and no where near the attitude. I'm pretty sure your right about the skittishness.

Thanks again for the post.

Yeah, a big difference does seem to exist between the Saums and A. Stalsbergi, but at the same time, I have never owned F1 Saums. Although, perhaps there is a large difference in temperament between F1s and a fish that has been captively bred through many generations; I would expect the temperament and behaviors to change somewhat. For example, none of my Saums were EVER that skittish but the F1 A. Stalsbergi's intensity of the survival instinct such as flight or fight instinct still seems very much apparent! Additionally, I have had some Saums in which were extremely aggressive and some that were perhaps just more assertive (not including breeding mode because they seem to always behave extremely aggressive when in breeding mode). I think you will be surprised with the growth rates assuming the tank environment is kept clean and the fish are well fed. Another bit of advice is be careful with feeding because I noticed these fish seem prone to bloat or obesity because they seem sensitive to the amount of food the consume. I was amazed at how easily these fish gained excessive weight, perhaps this is because of their F1 instinct drives again, and the intensity of the drives being so strong. When they discover a food they prefer, they will eat the food readily and seem to not know when to slow down or quit, compared to other fish that are not F1s or captive bred Saums. Another bit of advice is breeding, when they become sexually developed be very careful because when they pair they do NOT like other threats anywhere near them, meaning potential mates like other females, males, or any other fish. Seems obvious but these fish seem to take it to another level. I do not know if it was the female or the male of the pair that killed the other female but the other female was killed in which was very sudden and unexpected to me. I always noticed they did form an obvious pair almost from the start of when I received them, but I underestimated their potential. The male would ONLY permit a certain female near him in his territory, and the other female could never come by the other female and especially the male; this is the first strong sign or indicator. Anyways just trying to help you by sharing some of my experiences, plus I thoroughly enjoy Green Terrors. They are by far my favorite fish! ;)

That has been so far most of my observations with the Saums vs the A. Stalsbergi. It seams all A. Stalsbergi ive ever come across have the "Green terror" attitude. Its my understanding that it was the actual fish where hence the name Green terror came from. The Saums seem to me and others ive talked with to be very dependent on the specific fish. Some are Agro and some not. Im not sure if F1 has anything to do with it or not.

Thank you for sharing your experience and the info. I love these fish. While I dont happen to have a "Favorite" fish as I like so many. These are definitely in my top 3 most favorite Along with My Vieja species and my Red Terror's. I will try to keep updated here as they grow and develop. Again your help is much appreciated.

Thank you very much. It was one of the ones on my list that was a Had to have. If it wasnt for having so many tanks right now I probably wouldnt have them either. But these two will have their very own tank and no one else.
