im new to cichlids, myself. been more into channa. but ive recently purchased myself a albino red oscar! hes a very beautiful fish. hes in a tank with just gravel at the moment and he will be on his own. id like to know what you guys have to say about tank set ups for oscars. i know he will move around plants and easily moved objects. any help is greatly appreciated!

Good filtration, a decent sized tank (48x18 inches minimum) Enough water changes, and a good diet. They are easy to keep.

Live plants won't work, but driftwood, large rocks, (you probably shouldn't stack them, in case he undermines the foundation) and plastic plants should be fine.

Plastic plants will be uprooted generally...

Lots of water changes, good variety in diet, large tank, and compatible tank-mates.

i like the way floating plants look and you dont have to worry about him uprooting them lol and if they grow good will give him good place to hide while he's small... i donno what these plants are called but i see them alot GL with him
