I have 2 Limas in my 75 right now and they only seem to be active at night. They look really cool and awesome when active at 2 A.M. but i can barely see them because the lights are off by then. Any way to make them active in the day? there is plenty of cover but they remain stationary in the same exact spots constantly, and i really want to see them explore around. thanks

Mine became less nocturnal and almost fully daytime cats when they got past the 12" mark. Might also be because I typically feed during the daytime as well. Got to where they would come to the surface and grab shrimp from my fingers. :) My biggest would eat a few handfuls daily. There is hope to get them semi active during the daytime, but don't expect them to be swiming around constantly that goes too far outside their natural behavior. best you can hope for is daytime feeding, and coming out into the open to chase each other every now and then. When mine were larger I removed all hiding spots as they didn't freak out as much when larger. This also put them in the open for viewing whenever. I really miss my big one so bad. One of my fav catfish of all time is lsn. They are quirky lil buggers for sure. Ensure they have clean water also. Seems to keep their activity a bit higher if you do more frequent water changes.

When young, these guys prefer a school and then will be more brave and active. I'd say get at least 6 (if you have a large enough tank for them when they grow up). Dither fish also help. 2' adults lose their care to be around their kin.
