my o will not eat his pellets anymore

I have been having trouble getting my o to eat pellets. I feed him twice a day but for the last two days he will put the pellmet in his mouth them spit it back out. Ivf I drop more than one in he systematically swallows each one and spits it out until he has done the entire process for each pellet afterwhich he swims to the front of the tank and gives me a look.

Is this normal behavior?

I have been feeding earthworms instead of the pellets for now. Is there any harm in that kind of dietary switch?

I also feedc him ghost shrimp, guppies once a week but the pellets are his staple food.

Are the pellets too big? Have you tried starving him for a day?

No the pellets are fairly small he usually fits three of them inm his mouth at a time

starve him for a few days it always works... and offer him nothing but pellets..... dont worry if he doesnt eat fish can last a few days without eating...

Any other odd behaivior like scraping along rocks or listlessness?....might have some internal/external parasite of some sort.
