Alright, it's been almost three weeks since I purchased this guy at 1.5". He has grown extremely fast (for a GT) and is now close to 2.25"-2.5". His color is developing nicely, but the pattern still seems somewhat odd. I did some research and was finally able to find a picture of a mature male who shares a similar blotching pattern. The first two pics are of my GT, and the third pic is of a male GT with the same odd scale pattern (keep in my mind that this fish is much larger). I was hoping I could get some feedback/answers as to whether anyone has seen this before.

Does look a little unusual however it's also still young. May grow into a more uniform colour. As long as you like the look of it though that's all that matters :)

Yes, I definitely still like the fish. I was just curious if anyone had seen this before, or had any experience with a GT of this color pattern.

wow thats a cool looking fish, its most likely a genetic related colour problem. for instance in a group of say 100 GT's, some will naturally be darker, and others lighter. I think you have a gt that has lighter pigmentation than normal, but not so much that its Xanthic or Albino. either way you should keep us all updated as the fish grows will be interesting to see if he keeps his unique colouration!

the pattern doesn't look that odd, just slightly non-aligned. I suppose in a batch of 200 GT fry there will be at least a few with that pattern.

Very interesting.Thank you for the intelligent reply. I will surely keep updates on his growth and color development.

Looks normal to me. I've seen dark tone and light versions at many LFS. But nice GT nonetheless.
