I had this guy for about 6 months, buy my Jaguar cichlid liked the way he tasted... I caught him twice try to eat him!! I gave him to my cousin for a while and ended up getting him back. I did not keep him long tho, maybe a year or so... he had a huge appetite.

Nice fish, tank, shots. Sweet, Mr. Cichlid-turned-catfish :) What was the growth rate? Where is the fish now?

Thanks, lol. I've always loved catfish!! He grew pretty quick if I remember (2-3 years ago) and was always hungry too... I was afraid he was gunna eat my smaller cichlids. I think he was about 15" when I sold him... same demeanor my RTC had!! I get him and my Perruno/TSN hybrid mixed up, but I think I had him for about a year or a little more. Very long barbels!! I'd like to get another!!!

A year from ~3" (?) to 15" is a bit slow but well within reasonable. Leiarius marmoratus are markedly more scavengers than even RTC. IME and that of others, they will not try to prey on their tank mates unless this is the only food source or they are really, greatly underfed.

He was def under fed when my cousin had him, but grew pretty quick with me... he never ate a tank mate, but was always hungry looking for food!! I heard that Perruno and Marmoratus are confused a lot and most people have Marmoratus as Perruno is rarely seen. Can you tell by the pics which one I had or are you assuming it was Marmoratus because of how rare Perruno was?? I think they have a different amount of dorsal spines, no?? Thanks!!
