My Orange Pike....

Has developed black striping on the tips of all his fins(including his tail fin)he/she is about 4 and a half inches long now is this normal???I havent been able to post pics because my computer crashed for 2 weeks,but i am up and running again so i will try and have my wife post some for me.

As far as I can tell, that is a normal trait on these little guys......if it stays that way, you have yourself a male, gets white, you gotta girl.....Im sure you know the white tip thing already though.

Actually no.i am fairly new to Pikes,but thanks for the info.I am hoping my Pike is a female,arnt female Orange Pikes alot more colorful??

Black on the dorsal and anal? Ummmm....get us some pictures bro...lol.....been a while since I kept them...I know they should get it on the caudual fin, just can't member of the other fins or not.

Look closely at the dorsal and anal of the youngsters in these pic's, they have black on fins, then look at the adults on the last site, the male retains these while the females turn a very bright white.

sicxspeed the 1st pic resembles what my Pike looks like,only on my fish it is a darker stripe thru the fins and completely around the tail fin.Thanks all you guys for clarifying this for me.

Yeah, my XI is 7 inches right now and has black edging on dorsal, caudal and anal. I was hoping it was a female but its starting to look like it is going to be male, unless it makes a change over to white pretty soon. Both my marm and Johannas had the white edging by this size.

Yeah,but they are not mine,i am dying to post pics of all my fish,but i am totally clueless with technology,my wife always has excuses for not helping me post pics!!(i am really pissed!!)Anywho(to steal a line from Jer)my Orange is about 5-6 inches and by far my favorite fish(just wish he wasnt so wimpy!!)Do they tend to get a little more aggressive as they grow/age??
