Got these babies as quarters, or almost 1 inch....40 days later, they pushed the 4 inch mark....How, you may wonder....I did many water changes per week...Try four 40-50% water changes in a week...Krill, bloodworm treats, Cichlid Staple color Enhancer(Bio-Gold), Prawns, Cocktail Shrimp, many Mealworms, all on different days....BAsic staple is the Hikari pellets and frozen shrimp, which I feed everyday(staple)....

Of course this was shot right before I had to sell everything(for school) back in February of this year....2 out of the remaining six reached 6 inches from when I got them to when I sold them, took me 7 months....But 4+ inches in 40 days:headbang2....

Awesome tank..I like it nice and simple.

They look very healthy are very active..As I always suggest variety different diet with good water change will help them grown bigger and faster.

Thanks...

To any newbies thinking water changes are a pain in the ass, THEY PAY OFF...Plus, they(water changes) become a ritualisitic type of weekly thing you do after work or school....Personally, WT's take away my stress from the outside world....

Varying your babes' diets is a must too...The color and growth factor will be greatly enhance in the first year due to these two factors.....Lots of water current is another important factor....After this video was made, I transferred the fish to my 180....I had a RIO 20H powerhead in there bursting with current...For a 8ft tank, this pump pushed some nice current....I would turn it off at night, to let the fish "relax..."

i didnt know pirahnas need water current. the only movement is from my aqua clear 30 filter. i have a 50 gph water pump im not using. should i put that in.

in South America where silver Arowana come from is the same where some piranha come from. So their will need the same current and water.

The average output if most power filters/canisters are o.k. for current...But for BIG tanks, say 125g and up, I would suggest putting in a strong powerhead, ir two "mid" sized ones....NOt only will the fish get some extra excercise, but the waste in the tank will be circulated too...
