ok i got an orino about 18 months ago it was an 1.5" when i got it now its only 4.5" is that strange or what i feed it as much as it will eat its in a 60g tank it just grows so slow

orinos are generally slower growers, that being said they still grow at a rate close to 1in more or less. If he is the only fish in the 60G and you power fed him till now then maybe your water parameters are high. Or if there are multiple fish in the tank then that may be a cause as well. As well, a 60 gallon isn't to large of a tank the bigger the faster the fish will grow.

Regaurdless.....that is some stunted growth. 3.5" of growth in 18 months is waaay to slow for cichla. How often do you do water changes, what are your water param's., and what do you feed?

i do a change about once a month hes been the only one till about a week ago i put two monos in with him hes the one on my avatar i do know he looks way healthy

once a month??? i highly suggest once a week!!! what type of food are you feeding and what type of filtration are you running?

1 1.5"-4.5" fish in a 60g doesn't necessarily need once a week water changes.

When was the picture in your avatar taken? He does looke like a pretty healthy fish from that picture. Something is obviously wrong though.

So have you ever checked your water paramters? What temp do you keep it at? What's the filtration?

there are runts of every litter as well??

Good point.^^^:)

I would at least bump up the water changing schedule to a least twice a month. How much water do you change? And yes in general Orino's don't grow as fast as other Cichla. But as Dahn said he looks healthy from his general apparence at a first glance.

What are your water parameter's? And how offten do you check the Ph/Ammon/Nitrite/Nitrate?
