Ok so last week I notice my 12" ornatipinnis with its jaw wide open. Breathing kinda hard couldn't close its mouth. I thought wow he got lock-jaw that sucks I have had fish in the past get this and they eventually died. Then I thought maybe he's in the process of swallowing some food or a fish. But no fish was missing and couldn't see anything in its mouth. So later that day I notice him sitting on the bottom completely motionless. No gill movement just kinda rocking to the water movement. I thought he's dead so I went to net him out and he moved and swam away so I just let him be. So everyday I look at him he's still alive just his mouth gaped wide open. Still goes up and takes air acts normal doesn't look like its bothering him. So tonite I just happen to be looking for this other fish in my tank with a flashlight. The bichir swims by so I look into its mouth and looks like something in it. Couldn't really tell what but something. So I net him out take a pair of tweezers. He's got his mouth completely shut now out of the water I had to wedge open his mouth with the tweezers and guess what I saw? a freaken suction cup! he had ate a suction cup but when trying to expel it the cup expanded below its lower jaw wedging itself in there. I pulled it out it was about the diameter of a quarter.. That silly bichir tried to eat a rubber suction cup. I wonder if it knows and appreciates I pulled this thing out of it mouth.
