My ornate.

I've had her since July. Bought her off Petsolutions and she came in at about 4 inches. I couldn't sex her at first, but her anal fin didn't get as big as male ornates of the same size. She's about 9 inches, maybe 9.5, and she's really thick. She eats like a pig and as you can see, I spoil her.

Need to remove that gravel ASAP though, or you will end up with a compacted Ornate.

It's about 60 lbs of very thin black gravel in a 180. I'm thinking of switching to sand but never got around to it. What would be a good type of sand? I'm afraid of getting sand into the filters.

I've heard Pool filter sand is good around here. Never tried it though.

Here in Japan, most Poly collectors swear by crushed garnet stone (looks like red sand, but is very heavy) or 3M stuff.
