They'll get the hang of it eventually, the first spawn isn't always successful.

If the eggs are fertilized, the color would be a mild brown or tanned.
In this case , since these went bad...fishes tend to eat the unfertilized eggs.
Give it sometime and if possible move the pair to a separate tank...and this should help the Oscars and other fishes too
