i failed to notice the white fluff around the eye of one of my feeder mollies and when i did, my baby tiger oscar caught him and only the tail of the mollie was showing, so i netted the oscar and manually pulled the molly out of its mouth.
the molly's head was completely destroyed and torn up, but now im afraid that the fluff on the molly's eye will kill my oscar! this white fluff ALWAYS appears on the mollys... i bought them twice from the lfs and so far i found out that it kills the mollys after a few days of having the fluff... when i put the 10 feeders into a tank, if one has fluff, they all get it eventually and start dying off gradually every day like the roman plague and i keep having to scoup more and more of them up until all 10 of them die and i wasted my money TWICE this way... never buying feeder mollys again.. weak ass fish.
3 of the 5 comets i bought are still alive and no signs of any fluff since i got them almost 2 months ago. super immune systems and they were with the mollys the whole time, never getting any diseases. ive had them in my main tank as future food for half a month and their brimming with life. (other 2 comets only died from chiclid violence, the chiclids dont bother them at all anymore).
im still scared though... will the oscar grow fluff and die now? what about me?? while i was pulling the fish out of the oscar's mouth the oscar splashed around and a few trickles went on my mouth!!
