Hello, first off i have a 55 gal tank with 5 oscars and a pleco. 2 Black Tigers 6 inch, 3 Albino Oscars 4 inch. 4 of my Oscars eat feeder fish with no problems. one of the black tiger oscars shys away from the feeders and the colours change from her natural look to almost like a lighter tan striped with the black and faded orange. Is it just a shy fish or is she intimidated by the feeders in her tank, even tho there are other Oscars. Is there anything i can do to encourage her to eat the feeders?? It has no issues eating pellets or the frozen bloodworms, brine shrimp, daphnia, glassworms, any of this stuff, i know it will not starve, i just wanna know why she changes colour and wont eat them. Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

IMO the oscar that don't eat the feeders is the smartest one you have cause there is a chance she knows feeders are bad and harmful to her health.
I'd suggest a 150 seeing that is the biggest you have available and no more feeding feeders.
The bigger tank you choose the easier you will be able to maintain a somewhat decent nitrate reading with the stock you have chosen.

Yep, I would try to get a 200G. But eventually two of your O's will pair up and may try to breed. This is bad juju for the other three and even the pleco. They can become quite agressive as the sexually mature and begin light courtship. Keep the 55G as a back up for any pair that forms in the future. It may not be suitable for 2 largs O's, but it's better than nothing........But what could be worse than 1 pair in a group of five, 2 pairs, the last one out would probably get tore up pretty bad.

The most often stated recommended size for six Oscars is around 600g. That's always seemed excessive to me, so I'd really think 300g minimum for six O's. For only five Oscars (six is best for aggression distribution, pairing problems, etc.) I'd say 250g. Add the pleco and you're back to 300g.

Hmm. Feeder goldfish + tiny tanks = smells like somebody fishing for reactions. Not accusing anybody of anything, but the title of this post is a problem of its own, then the poll is another (and not closely related) glaring problem. Thoughts?

50 gal per Oscar... though bigger is always better, taking into consideration the poop factories they are. As long as goldfish aren't the main part of their diet and well quarantined to avoid disease and parasites, there is no reason imo not to offer them live foods on occasion. I have found getting rosy minnows to be a better option for mine as it gives them a work-out and mental stimulation more then a large meal in and of itself. and they tend to be healthier then goldfish as a general rule to begin with, at least around me.

and likely your 1 oscar who's showing signs of stress w/ feeders put in is getting bullied by the others when the feeders go in.. and has learned to just stay away.

your looking at a tank of at 84x24x24 inches, maybe even 96x24x24, to house all those poop machines and a huge filter, probably a sump to handle all the waste.

Truest statement. Oscar's do better in even numbers.
I would go with a 150gal wide tank with a heavy arsenal of filtration.
