We had this Oscar for about 6 years. It looks like she had some eggs that wouldn't reabsorb. She stopped eating, then a few days later she was gasping at the top of the tank, the next day she was pale white and laying on the bottom of the tank. She was about 14".

Her tank mates were 4 labeo boga 9"-13", 3 pictus cats 4"-5", a clown loach 5.5", and a common pleco 15".

very sorry for your loss , get a bunch of young oscars fast and grow them out . Replacing a lost fish asap helps.

Thanks for the condolences. We want to get another Oscar, but not yet, too soon. We are thinking of getting a few large schools of tetras or something to help the time pass before we get another Oscar. Hopefully the Labeo Bogas don't eat them. :) We are working on getting 4 more clown loaches to finish the shoal for our current one, we got him with the labeo bogas and they were all the same size and he's been shoaling with them, but I think he is noticing that they are 2-3 times his size now. The pictus cats have really changed their behavior without the Oscar in the tank, which is interesting to see.

I think we may head out to Petsmart and Petco today to see what is available, since they both seem to be having sales today.

Get a dozen , and sell the one's with less colour as they grow, do this asap . dont prolong the grief.
