So I bought a new oscar at my local fish store but the lady that got him for me had probably worked at the store for probably....... 5 mins. She wasent all that bright and didnt take the hood off the tank before getting him out so he thrashed around and hit the hood several times, cutting up his right side. There are 4 or 5 lines on his right side were his is missing a lot of scales. It dosent look to bad, but I am worried about him.
What should I do to help him heal quicker? Any special foods I should feed him? More water changes perhaps?

Anti stress in the water ( Melafix for instance ); water in tip top condition and leave him be...nothing to stress him in the tank..they're tough, should be allright

aquarium salt, warm water, and melafix

how much salt should I put in the tank? Its 90 gallons.

I would go with one tablespoon of aquarium salt per 10 gallons of water and raise the temp to 82 degrees. Also I would not use the melafix unless the fish has open wounds. If ya got open wounds use the salt and 1/2 treatment of the melafix.

Do you have other fish in the tank? If so what kind? This treatment may not be good for them.
