So on Christmas day Brick swallows a metal plant anchor. He coughed it up at some point. Fast forward to tonight. Everyone got dinner, my O was doing a wild 'feed me' dance. So the main tank gets the first round and I turn my back for about ten seconds to get pellets for Patch and Kong. Turned around and...

Brick had dislocated his jaw. He couldn't close his mouth and it was jacked to the left. I'm like what the **** has he done now? So I prepared a bucket to place him in and see if I could ease his jaw back. He saw the trout net and went berserk, flying all over the tank and giving me a bath. When he finished guess what? His jaw had popped back in place. So he was a bit subdued for a while, 'feeling it out.' Forty five minutes later he's started grubbing for loose pellets on the bottom.

My moron of a Severum noticed a lack of Brick's aggression and decided get 'tough and territorial', tracking the Oscar like a shadow. Of course he didn't do anything, it was all posturing. Now Boss is a bit different, the BP does let the O know when he's had it with Brick bulling his way into everything. So he also picked up on Brick seeming a little 'off' and circled the Oscar slowly, flaring like a shark. Brick rolled sideways and puffed his jaws out in warning. Boss also tilted sideways and kept flaring before swimming towards his hide. My O may be sore but he isn't wounded. Chip will find that out if he keeps playing. Brick ignores his routine, he doesn't see the severum as a threat anyway.

Me? I'm picking up a bottle.

Most all you describe is typical cichlid behavior always testing the others and trying to assert their dominance.
Oscars are funny Bada$$ one day and pouting the next.
Just part of the attraction to these fish I guess.

That happened to my fire mouth he had a scrap with a large pyjama catfish and I noticed his mouth was stuck open for a whole night I didn't know what to do so left him next day I noticed his mouth was back to normal funny how they sort themselves out.

Brick,

ive not read all your endeavors, did you research premier Oscar vendors? Or just buy him at LFS?

looking to get 1-3...

I got Brick at Beltway Aquariums in Charles County MD. They specialize in SA, CA and AF fish...been around since the 70s I think.

Yeah Brick wakes up cranky and chases everybody first thing before settling down...the BP is the only one who won't take his guff.
