what he said, and if you start to see any signs of white fungus, use maroxy, it treats the fungus and stops it from spreading to the rest of the eggs, you can find it at petsmart
They look furtile, so I don't think he will get a whole lot of fungus eggs. Also the ones that start to grow fungus, the parents dispose of.
unkle_billy- I don't think that oscar breeding in aquariums is rare, but more to do with oscar pairs being less common. Most pairs are bonded by a group being raised together and pairing off. Most people do not take the time or have a large enough aquarium to do this.
There are a few things you should think about before raising the fry. You will need adequate tank size to raise a bunch of baby oscars. 90 gallons would be a good size. Also, oscars a piggies. So your going to need lots of food for the little guys. I would start with brine and blood worms. They grow quite quick so you will be able to start feeding them small pellets soon. Also, all said and done, your going to have 100 oscars on your hands to do something with all of them.
If they laid them yesterday, they should hatch in another day or so. 70 hours about. If you increase the water temperature to about 82, they might hatch a little quicker. But I would just wait. They will keep the eggs oxygenated so I don't think many will rot. They will live off there yoak sac for a few days, then they will be eager to eat.
Best of luck, keep us updated.
