Well hey everyone I apologize for making a lot of threads as of late I'm just full of questions but moving on! Currently I have a 2.5 inch oscar in my 55 gallon grow out he is alone with no other tankmates and will be moving into a 125 in June but anyways he is so shy anytime I get by the tank,he just sulks he refuses to eat pellets at all I'm trying to feed him floating hikari, cichlid gold mini pellets and,he just won't go for them. I finally caved in today and gave him half a cube of blood worms he loved those but he needs to get hooked on pellets not treats. If anyone has any tips on getting, him to eat let me,hear them!!! Also a side note the tank,is kept at 79 degrees and the water paramters are excellent 0 ammonia 0 nitrite 5 nitrate.

Starve him I had a fish who was just like that. He starved for two weeks and then he started eating them.

every thing sounds right.including a larger tank down the road, and water perams, Thank you for that:)
Oscars can be drama queens, do not let him break you to what he wants to eat, break him to what he should be eating.

He will come around long as a sound and healthy fish,.

and again thank you for posting the info needed and intent. :)

Pops is right. Just be patient and keep trying to feed him the pellets. He'll eat when he's ready.

ok sounds good this is just unusual to me haha he's being a pain my old oscar I had who reached 13 inches but died of a tumor at 3 years old that was unfortunate... He ate really quickly and was super friendly this one is being a pain thanks for the replies to haha! I just hope he comes around soon.... He will be housed in,the 125 with 6 silver dollars a fire mouth and a featherfin I'm really excited to set that tank,up!

give him some time, Ideally we want them face planted doing the feed me dance, if he does chirp on in say a week, being a little guy, I would start looking to something else. in the mean time feed him what he needs,

I lost my girl tiger when she was about 3 years old, feel you there.

Ok if he doesn't act right here by next Friday do you have any tips on what to do to make him eat his pellets also do you think adding some type of other fish companion like 3 silver dollars would do anything, beneficial or it won't matter?

I have never ever had a little Oscar not be a food hound right out of the gate. I have had them go off food, give me the stink eye, lets see what happens before we start going down other roads. fish aint going any ware, and Me and other folks aint ether. :)

I suspect he well eat.

going to be straight with you, there is no other fish in the tank. yes?
