my oscar has like what i think is fin rott...

the top of all his fins are white any ideas on curing?

medifix at your LFS works great, make sure you take the carbon out of the filters first.

Carbon will remove chemicals from the water whih include medication

so how long will i need to leave the filter unplugged with just the power heads running

You don't leave the filters unplugged, you remove the carbon from the filters for the coarse of the medication which will be around a week, depending on how bad he is.

my oscar has white on the edges of his fins too.i think its natural though unless they are looking ragged and unhealthy.
