I've heard more than a few times about Oscars (in particular) breaking or dislocating their jaws. One of mine scooped up a worm too fast once and was swimming around looking the same way as yours, I was scared he'd broken it. I netted him to get a better look at it and in the process of netting him he must've jarred it enough to knock it back into place because all of a sudden he was fine. You might try that. I would assume if it's broken or something that it'd heal on its own, I don't know.
Good luck with him (great pictures that show everything by the way).

You're not sure?
It doesn't look like it in the picture.
Can you post your ammonia, nitrite & nitrate readings, tank size, tankmaters, water change schedule....things like that? We need to rule out a water quality problem and that's the only way to rule it out.

I agree his right eye looks a little swollen....I think listing all the water parameters is a good idea...So many professionals here...They may see something in the numbers....Are there other fish in the tank?? I agree that the pics you took are great!!

its in a 150g with another oscar, 2 severums, 1 senagalus, 10 clown loaches, 3 plecos, 1 bgk, and a florida gar. all my other fish are totally fine. i do a water change once a week 40% or so. i will have to do the test's when i get home from work.

the only thing i have done different this week is that i fed them scallops, not too sure if that would do anything.

Sounds like an impact injury....Looks like penguin is prop. right...They really attack their food hard...They also are known for quick bursts mabey he smashed into something...

hopefully its just that, usually my water quality is really good and i stay on a strict schedule. hopefully it can heal from it. its a pretty big guy at around 10" or so, would suck to lose him.

wow 10"....He's been around a while....I notice some loose white material around his face.. Normal or new?
