As if you guy's haven't seen enough Astronotus lately, here are some recent pictures of mine. The tiger is Bojangles and the red is Chef.

Nice looking Os. The name Chef fits perfectly. Just read your article today on oscarfish.com ;).

fishnutham....No, my oscars are not wild caught. The tiger came fro ma store called Empire Aquatics in upstate NY and the red came from a PetSmart.

Fry...what did you think of my article? I didn't know you were a member of ofish.

I liked your article a lot sandtiger, extremely informative and helpful. I'm going to ease up on feeders for my O. I also tried mealworms. I read that mealworms will turn into bugs and I had to go away for a few days and my O couldn't finish them so I put them in the freezer and fed them to him when I came back, it worked surprisingly well. The only thing I don't like about mealworms is that my O literally coughed up the exoskeletons later that day, it was a bit disturbing. A question I have for you is what is your view on feeding birds to fish? Sometimes I give my O small pieces of chicken and he loves it.

I posted a little on oscarfish.com a few years back but thought a lot of members were way too hard on their standards like tank size and filtration, it was like "whoever doesn't follow these rules must die!" Not that I treat my fish poorly but they were just very aggressive about it. This forum is more laid back.

I don't think bird meat is much better then mammal meat and from what I hear it is pretty gatty and can build up in the fishes liver. I have fed my oscars turkey thoug on rare occasions (Thanksgiving). Everything in moderation you know.

I hear you ya on ofish...they can come down pretty hard, you just gotta know how to defend yourself I guess on what you believe. Some of the members their frown upon my tank, come right into the thread ready to battle when all I want to do is show off my fish. :)
