Bought these guys from a petstop almost a year ago when they were about the size of a quarter. Didn't really know what I was getting myself into at the time since I was a complete noob. But after doing some research and having them for about a month I fell in love with these 2 little guys. They were growing pretty fast but they have like doubled in size in the past like 2 months. It almost feels like I go to sleep and wake up and they are 10x bigger! Right now they are probably 5-6 inches in length but they are extremelly fat. Just wanted to share my little buddies with everyone :)

(Also is there a way to tell the Gender of these guys?)

Cool fish. What size tank. These fish are true tank busters and local pet stores always sell these to new fish hobbyist. Don't be surprised if they are over 12" in the next 6 months.

Have them in a 55 currently. had them in a 180 that i took down after the hurricane due to some losses. but I currently have a 300 gallon waiting for me just need to get the right filtration and lighting and figure out a way to get it into my house aha. and yeah a lot of LFS sell these guys without warning people what they are getting into. I just couldn't part with my guys. Love how spunky and energetic they are. cool personalities for a fish!

You will need that bigger tank soon. I'm surprised they are still so small. Mine grew two inches a month til they hit 12 inches and then slowed to one inch per. Were at foot and a half by a year. What are you feeding?

At first i really wasn't feeding to heavy, a lot of just brine shrimp and pellets and I would throw some vegies in there, but recently ive been feeding them guppies/minows/tilapia/bloodworms/carnisticks honestly anything i put in there they end up eating. in the past month they have probably grown like 2 inches. getting a nice fat belly in there. def going to need to set up this 300gallon soon :p

i feel the same as you.. when i had my pacus .. for 8 years.. they made me laugh.......they love chewing things.. so as yours get older feed them pieces of raw carrots.. grapes and small nuts .. they chew them up with their big teeth and you can hear it through the glass tank.. mine used to dance when they saw you.. and i know it sounds a little nutty.. but they always look like their smiling.. they are just a happy fish ...And so glad your keeping yours.. i finally broke down and just got two new babies.. whats a fish room with out pacus??

Couldn't help but notice that you're in deer park and if you're in the area you should stop by South Shore Tropicals. Sorry for derailing the thread and your fish look awesome!
