My Paratilapia Polleni is frustrating me... ugh

Ok... Every morning I find about 10 plants floating in my tank. So I spend time planting them again. I get all wet cause the tank is freaking tall. Its 285 gallons with a sand bottom. I pass by little later and more plants are floating around. I'm thinking am I doing something wrong. For like 3 days I have been chasing plants and getting wet. I finally caught him attacking my plants. So I fix all the plants and place something in front of the plants and I watched him chase all the fish. Wtf The tank is big enough for everyone. I took his cave away to see if he will calm down. He hasn't bitten anyone just pushes everyone around.
If he keeps this up I'm gonna have to sell him or trade or something. Not something I want to do. He isn't my favorite fish. Also I wouldn't know where to sell him cause I recently moved to Georgia. I just don't know what to do. :nilly: Its driving me crazy. Anyone have ideas on how I can fix this?

Are the plants real or fake? I zip tie my fake plates to eggcrate and burry it in sand to keep them in place, I'd imagine it can work with real plants but if they're fragile he may destroy them when them dont budge.
 
Oh sorry yeah they are real plants. Its just I hate getting wet 3 times a day for nothing. Fish tank isn't finished so the over flows aren't working yet. When the tank is finished I don't want it clogged with plants. I would rather him mess with the plants then the fish.
 
My old polleni was a killer too, even at 3" would kill any tankmate in his 60G...

They love re-arranging deco as well, mine used to always move the substrate around creating optimal resting spots

Its kinda the nature of the beast. That is what some cichlids do. My 10 inch jack dempsey would not let anything in his tank. Not even a heater. He was alone in a 125 with a large pleco.
 
Oh geez .... I guess I'm stuck with him redecorating my plants... I'm gonna have to get a shorter stand lol. I might have to look into potted plants in the long run. Anyone know where I can get some nice priced potted plants? I have a small budget lol.
