My parents tank

Hey guys, I want to get my parents back into fishkeeping. My mom just retired and my dad is soon to follow. I know they used to have fish, but I think it was just tetras. I want to get them some cichlids, preferably African, but don't have to be. Dad tells me that he used to love watching them follow each other around the tank single file. You guys have any ideas?

malawi cichlid will be good

specily they are the most colorful

I would get them oscars b/c there just like puppy dogs and they would have a lot of fun with them.

how big is the tank in question? a group of demasoni would be an option

My Dad retired about 5 years ago. I gave him one of my tanks so it would keep him occuppied. He keeps plain old feeder goldfish. A friend gave him some babies from his pond. They look horrible(missing gill plate, blind in one eye, etc), but my Dad likes them. They keep laying eggs and my Dad keeps trying to save them.
