So I've had my parrot cichlid Pinkie since he was a little bitty thing. I recently tried to sex him (after much research) and my educated guess was he was male. On a recent trip to my lfs, I saw a cute little parrot with a pretty pronounced vent (I believe that's the right term). I figured, "I guess I'll get Pinkie a girlfriend!" and so, Peach was introduced to the tank.

And so I noticed the two of them were hiding out in one spot of the tank and being super jerks to everything else. This was pretty new behavior so I started rearranging the tank to try and break up the aggression, and there was squishy little eggs all over! I ran through the house screaming, "HOLY CRUD MOM I'M A GRANDPARENT!" :nilly:

I know finding a male an female parrot can be a bit of a challenge, and having a successful batch of fry from two parrots is pretty much unheard of, but I figured I'd share some pictures.

I hope you know that the possibility of finding a fertile male parrotfish is very slim... Don't celebrate yet. Your situation brings to mind an old saying: Don't count your chickens before they hatch! I wish you the best of luck though.

Well since the eggs are white now I will say it. Basically finding a fertile male is like winning the lotto, as much as you may want it to happen it wont. I have never seen a fertile male ever and I have looked. Anytime you here of one its either a wrongly identified fish or its someone else's story from a friend with no proof.
