I hate parrots as they are hybrids and have a disturbing shape, but they can really look nice when many are together, nice GT and RT also.

lol, I know of a lot of fish that have a more 'disturbing shape' than a Parrot Cichlid. In my eyes, it's a fish, and all fish are awesome, lol.

Well, the fish is a hybrid so this fish has an abnormal shape, i dont have a problem with normal fish with with a weird shape but parrots dont have a weird shape, parrots are deformed.

^being a hybrid isn't what "gave" it it's shape. simply crossing 2-3 cichlids does not result in that. i was reading that they are believed to created with the following...


1) crossed with cichlids such as red devil/severum/ synspilum

2) some kind of iodine injection created the deformed appearance

3) it might actually just be a highly inbred deformed red devil.....kind of like the process they went through to make fancy goldfish and such

No matter what anyone thinks i love them. i can stick my hands in the tank and two of them swim right up and will lay in the palms of my hand the others not far behind..
