As most of you know from my previous threads my 210 g tank had ick i tried kick ich no good mad fish gasp for air then tried copper and a freshwater dip treated whole tank and moved inverts into 65g (died a week ltr) when i put it in the tank the fish went crazy and started jumping at the top glass on the tank i had the rite copper levels and test kits at .5 or .05 one of those but my lf store said it was at the rite gage. basically the first night i lost two fish my small lion and my emporer then over the past week i lost everything except my panther grouper a purple and yellow tang and a hogfish i am so devastated. Al these fish that died(fairly large) were 5 years old and i loved them derely no one would even let me transfer the fish into their spare tanks for fear of transfering ick lost a huge lionfish 12+in and my favorite stoplight parot 14+in was going to start building a pond for them but they didnt make it that far IOnly thing that keeps me for not giving up is my love for marine life and now i can barley afford the materials needed to keep the tank goin sooo pissed

Ick is ***! thats all i can say
the remaining fish are ick free rite now should i move them into a small quarantine tank and drain the 210 and start over? or wat? will the ick come bak cant afford to lose these guys plz help

I know how you feel...Ick in Marine tanks is hard as hell to treat......I have lost a ton of fish do to that and ignorance........

The ignorance, meaning a lack of knowing how to treat the ick, without messing up the inverts, and the liverock!!!!!

All these years of browsing these forums, of all the idle chat, and useless posts, and replies........there was never one to say, or suggest a effective treatment.....

HERE IT IS

DIATOM FILTER.....DIATOM FILTER.....DIATOM FILTER....DIATOM FILTER.....DIATOM FILTER

With a diatom filter, you don't have to do anything at all, treatment wise....just let the Ick run it's course, when the Ick is in the free swimming stage, the diatom filter will filter it out, and thus not letting it re-attach to the fish......

Within a week the Ick will be filtered out

Again, Sorry for your losses...

what you feed theses guys that remain?

The news of that is devastating, but do try to set up a new tank. Diatom filters and UV sterilizers would be your best bet on keeping Ich out of the water.

I'm very sorry to hear about your terrible loss. I have had ich many times in my reef tank since I owned a blue hippo tang but have yet to loose a fish. The success to beating ich is to "never treat it". I find that treating it and thouse freshwater dips are what kill your fish. I have always let nature take it's course and let my cleaner shrimp, and cleaner wrasse do the work. I also soak all foods in Garlic Guard before feeding. The garlic guard builds heathy imune systems that fight ich.

Try not to let this discourage you. Cowboy up :headbang2

I'd always qt any new s.w. fish before introduction into my main tank. I'd also never ever treat the main tank with any meds. I hate to tell you this but, you won't ever be able to keep inverts in there again probably not even if you do a total stip down and replaice all of your l.r.

IMHO the best ways to keep marine fish disease free is through the use of a q.t. keep your water parameters good," less than 10 ppm nitrates for fish and less than 5 for inverts", also give them a varied diet and at the very least 10x turn over per gallon.
The diatom filter is great but a simple q.t. tank will save you money and you wouldn't need the diatom filter if you had it.

thankyou guys so much for the advices. i have a uv on the tank but i guess it just doesnt kill ick its three the rating for the tank and also i feed my fish a mix of kelp flakes krill, phtyoplanton algae wafers and another small flake food and occasionally some shrimp from the bait store that my gruoper loves t o eat.
i will try the filter and defiantly the quarantin tank also will use garlic thks again for the help

Fwiw, I've found that having good water parameters along with good introduction practices like qt really help with disease. IME if your fish have a strong immune system they can often times fight off a disease. IME tang ='s ich magnent so always qt for at least 40 days prior to introduction that way you won't have to dose your main tank.
