I bought a 1" pbass 2 and a half months ago, he won't eat anything except live fish, he is now 5", still not eating frozen foods. I already tried not feeding him 3 days, and on the 4th day, he still show no interest on frozen foods. I also tried introducing him different types of food such as, market prawn, fresh fish meat, superworm and mealworm. Still non of these works. Can anyone please give me some tips or suggestions on how to train my peacock to eat anything except live fish? because I'm really worried on what should I feed him when he grew to a foot long. :(

Get him coming to the top of the tank to feed don't drop the live until he comes up maybe even skip a day of feed. get something small to feed like guppy .throw a guppy in then throw a pellot.they will get they might not like it but they will get it.Check out Dmacks thread on Chichla conversion it works!!:D

the first thing mine ate when trying to get them off live is omega one freeze dried bloodworms. The trick i learned from members on here is sprinkle little at a time. Have them want it and want to compete for it. Definately works like a charm.

I already tried this, throwing a guppy in then pellets or shrimp, after he get the pellet or shrimp, he'll just spit it out after he tasted it. :(

oh I'm sorry, I didn't know that there's different types of pbass. uhmm.. there are 8 fishes of the same size in the tank and my pbass is the only one who eat live food, and the rest are all eating shrimp.

Wow! How much does the omega one freeze dried bloodworms cost?

Below is the same advice I gave revival.

"Mine eat Cichlid gold and Cichlid staple alternating each day.

To get cichla switched over to pellets from blood worms, I utilize their natural instincts to get them to eat the pellets. The first thing I did was get some Tinfoil Barbs (or any other Dither fish) that would compete with my cichla for food. Then I only put a few blood worms in at a time when I fed them. This caused my cichla to compete with the tinfoil barbs for the little food that was available. After a week they would come to the top of the water and hit the blood worms as soon as they would touch the water. Once they were feeding this way I started throwing in some small pellets along with the blood worms. Then I gradually phase out the blood worms and just fed them the pellets. The entire process took me a month. "

It will also work with getting them off live. The only trick with switching from live to frozen is getting a few fish in the tank that will eat live. Then when you feed them only put half as many feeders in the tank as there are fish your feeding. For instance if you have three fish only put one or two feeders in. In time they will start anticipating the feeders and come to the top of the tank when you feed them. Soon they will strike as soon as the feeders hit the water. Then you just switch over to frozen and they should hit it as soon as it hits the water as well.

like $6-$7 from petsmart. Trust me, just be patient and you will find something that your bass will eat. But i dont believe in starving your fish to have them eat. They will learn to eat sooner or later. I have given my cichla feeders 3 times total and after the last time i refused to get them more. I was determined to get them trained and now they eat

- omega one bloodworms
- omega one shrimp
- hikari gold
- hikari sticks

Like i mentioned earlier sprinkle the bloodworms or put one pellet at a time to have them compete. Also what helped in the beginning is i would take couple pellets or sticks and use the backside of a spoon to crush them on a napkin...then i would sprinkle the crushed pellets/sticks in the tank.

I am new to this as well but learned other peoples tricks and trust me they work!

Mine would strike anything as soon as it hits the water, but after he tasted it, he will just spit out any non-live foods. Is that normal?and do you think by continueing it they accept the frozen someday?
