My Petsmart "Trimacs"

Both of the fish I am going to show pictures of are supposedly trimacs. We all know they are really low-grade flowerhorns, but these two look totally different. I'm sorry they aren't the best pics, but what is up with the smaller one? The larger one (first 2 pics) looks pretty good (like a trimac/FH), but the second one has bars. They both looked very similar when I first got them.

Odd, but you never know what your getting. I got three, two look like the top pic whereas the third, bottom pic, is quite different.

The one in pix 3 and 4 looks like a Uro and I'm willing to bet that it is. Pretty easy to mix the fish up and not bother correcting them.
That's how I got my red bay snook for the price of the jewels right in the next tank hehehehe...

These are my PetSmart "Red Terrors" BTW.

...of course, I knew they were Uros when I got them.

yeah, even though they say they're trimacs, they're really hybrids/flowerhorns, just trying to figure out why it looks SO different.

brian, both of yours look a lot more like trimacs than the one i got, lol. the second one i posted has a much larger caudal peduncle spot than the first one.

interesting. maybe my "red terror" is actually a RT not a uro. the "RT" and the possible uro do look more alike than the "flowerhorn" and the flowerhorn. however, this petsmart never had any labels that said red terror or uro. i got 2 convicts for the sale priced of the "trimacs" cuz they were mixed up and i told the lady they were trimacs. i wasn't for sure, myself, but i think i wasn't all there mentally at the time, lol.

I concur with straitjacketstar, the second "trimac" is a uro.

yeah i love petsmart for that reason... some times u find a steal!

i'll be pretty excited if it turns out to be a uro. they didn't actually have any "trimacs" left at that store, so i found the two i have at another. at least i got 2 cheap cons from there and one is looking like a male and the other female. i hope to get them breeding for some baby treats for my monsters.
