I have a 72g bowfront tank that's being filtered by 2 ac110's. For media, all i use is a filter sponge and biomax. I perform a 40% water change about every week-week and a half. The only occupant of the tank is an 11" male Midas. Any reason why this keeps happening?

Whats in your water? If you have water sit out for a while with nothing in it, does the PH drop there too?

You could always throw in some crushed coral or something to help bring it up and stabilize it...

If you have a lot of driftwood or any decomposing plant matter, that will surely drop your pH.

What is you pH at? What kind of fish are you keeping? Low pH isn't necessarily bad, of course that depends on what kind of fish you have and just how low the pH is.

But yes, if you need to bring the pH up, add crushed coral. Easy fix.

Your PH will drop slowly no matter what but will not drop too low if you are monitoring your water.

How much are you feeding?
What is the PH of your water change water?
What is the PH of your tank water?
How long has the tank been set-up?
What is your filter cleaning process?
How large is the midas?
How old is your PH kit?
