What type of pike was it? How big were they both respectively? Tank size? Sorry for your loss man. I'd be a little nervous keepin any nice fish with flowerhorns. For one they are aggressive mofos that are unpredictable, and two i wouldn't want their fins to get messed up if they got in a fight. Really am sorry. It sucks when you loose ANY fish...

my pike is Crenicichla lenticulita 6" and fh only 4 !/2" but very aggressive. My pike tried to fought back but lose very time. So I had put some rock to made some cage for him to hide when fh tried to kill him.
That woulda been about the time I woulda removed either the FH or the pike. Why risk the fish? Sometimes we can prevent unnessecary deaths if we just think about things a little. Sorry for your loss.
i never put ther fish with flower horns... thats just me. threw my 8" fh with my 20" aro and first thing he did was go for my aro... i almost hate those things lol. i actually gave him away because he was becoming an issue, sat in his own tank in the garage because there was nothing to put him with. a splitter and a reddevil was okay for a few months.
