Hey guys my birthday is in 2 days and i'm trying to persuad my dad to get a me a large plastic pond tub to put under my deck. It is planning to be around the size of 6 feet (length), 3.5 feet (width) and 3.5 (height). This is going to be my estimate. i live in southern ontario canada. Can my gars survive through the winter in the tub with a cover??? what procaution do i need to do first?? any problem?? Will the tub COMPLETELY freeze over?? what will I need to add then?? How many GARS CAN I PUT INSIDE?? I am planning to get a few gator gars. Will it work for life?? If not, what other species of gars or aggresive coldwater fish?? I can put the tub or fish inside during the winter. i hope next year's winter is going to be as warm as this year's. Thanks you global warming!! LOL

if your in canada it will cost a lot of money to maintain a out door tropical pond winter or not...

if money isnt a issue then i would do a in-ground pond lined with carpet and insulators.
you would also need lots of aeration cover or no cover and of course heaters are a must.

plus if your planning on getting gator gars 3.5ft width wont be enough...

hey aren't gars north american so they can survive in sub freezing or cold weather.
